How it works

Aiken output shaped for Moodle

Aiken is a plain-text quiz format supported by Moodle for simple multiple-choice questions. Quizlet Exporter converts compatible Test-page questions into that structure and downloads a .txt file you can inspect before importing.

Aiken allows exactly one correct answer and does not represent written responses. The exporter therefore omits incompatible questions instead of silently changing their meaning, and records how many were omitted at the bottom of the file.

How to Export Quizlet to Moodle

1

Open the source quiz

Install Quizlet Exporter, open the set's Test page, and confirm that the questions and marked answers look correct.

2

Choose Aiken

Click Export, select Quiz, and choose Aiken — Moodle. The extension downloads a UTF-8 .txt file.

3

Review the omissions

Open the text file and check the comments at the end. Written and multi-answer questions are counted there because Aiken cannot represent them safely.

4

Import into Moodle

In Moodle's question bank, choose Import, select Aiken format, upload the text file, complete the import, and review the resulting questions.

The result

A safe single-answer export

Only questions that Aiken can represent accurately are included.

Aiken has strict limits

Do not use Aiken when the quiz depends on checkboxes, more than one correct answer, or written responses. Choose QTI instead when you need those question types represented.

Moodle controls the final import and may report additional formatting issues. Always preview the imported questions in Moodle before adding them to a live course quiz.
